I understand the daily struggles of the people of the 39th District because they are the same struggles I face. I work hard to provide for my two daughters and give them the support and guidance they’ll need to thrive, just like I want for every family in our community
Will our children inherit a state that fights for them? It’s gotten to the point where I knew I couldn’t expect the leadership my family needs from our current state rep, so I decided to run. This isn't rhetoric; it's a call to arms born from love and urgency.
Growing up, my parents provided for my sister and me, but struggled to get ahead. I spent most of my summers in Georgetown working on a farm.
It was hard work, but I knew we didn’t have much and wanted to contribute. I learned the value of hard work at a young age, and that has stuck with me.
My interest in public service started about ten years ago when I first met Russ Meyer. Russ came to my door campaigning on a rainy afternoon. We stood there talking for 15 minutes. It was the first time I had met an elected official, and I was surprised he was not only willing to give some 20-something-year-old this much of his time but also genuinely cared what I had to say.
I am committed to being the same kind of hard-working, selfless public servant. I can only hope to do as much for the people of the district as Russ did.
I grew up in the Lexington/Nicholasville area. Before attending Bluegrass Community and Technical College, I attended Millcreek Elementary, Tates Creek Middle School, and East Jessamine High School.
I started my work life bagging groceries, in car sales, and for the last decade in commercial pest control. I am very familiar with putting in a hard day’s work.
When I am not working, I spend as much time as possible with my two beautiful little girls, Emory, age 12, and Audrey, age 2, who mean everything to me. One of the great joys of my life is coaching Emory’s soccer team. It provides me with an opportunity to spend time with my daughter, and I get to share with her and her friend the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship.
Watching things in Frankfort over the past few years, I think they could use more teamwork and sportsmanship.
