Weeks before Kentucky lawmakers reconvene to debate policy, a nonpartisan group, the League of Women Voters of Kentucky, has released a report criticizing some of the procedures used to pass legislation.
They found lawmakers increasingly have relied on fast-track maneuvers to pass bills, which it says can give Kentuckians little or no time to offer input. The group urged lawmakers to slow down and give constituents more time to weigh in on legislation.
The only reason to limit public participation is if the legislature knows their actions are not for the public good. As a servant leader, I will always keep the public informed and fight to ensure the legislature does the same!
We require increased openness and participation from the public rather than reducing it!
